In making the charge of racism against David Yerushalmi, who is president of Society of Americans for National Existence, the organization known as CAIR has made a timely, also much needed exposure of the American civil rights movement. Until this exposure of the most important event in American life since the Civil War, the civil rights movement has been seen by most everyone as a struggle against racists, for example, Bull Conner, Lester Maddox, Governor George Wallace, waged mainly by non-Southern whites leading the region’s Black population.
The accusation of racist, having first referred to Southern whites soon came to apply to evidence of discrimination established in difference as such. It came quickly to mean discriminacy as speech. Racism, this is to say, has now the meaning that speech is racist regardless of truth or falsity; about Blacks certainly but as such. But what does this mean? True speech that is discriminatory is racist because there can be no true speech. But this is only the tip of the iceberg.
The basis for this transformation of speech is the iceberg unseen. The civil rights movement, Freedom Riders on the side of the good, and the Southern and other racists on the side of evil, is misguided. It is incorrect. It had been only the French revolutionaries at first. Catching the drift of the new science men like Robespierre, Sade, Diderot and then many others were the first to shred the fabric that binds men to the terms of existence as given. And the Americans, of all peoples were the second. Public burnings of the Constitution. Garrison lit the fire that sent murderers out onto the prairies to exact justice's blood. The Civil Rights Movement has now nationalized all of this, a progress.
The line of progress, running from New Man to Blood to the New World, runs --of all things-- from the effects of new methods of real transformation inside the human Self. This, magic really, is the result of nothing to startle any normal person; only computations with indeterminate symbols. We do not even yet see the connection to the fire that spreads from Certainty in the Absence of a fixed being in Self to incoherence of Speech. By the time men are burning constitutions and committing righteous murder, global man is already long in the tooth. Self-Society=World is the world state. The communist Kojeve, praising it all, calls it "the annihilation of man, properly so-called" to praise it more. The core of it all is the incoherence of Speech.
But these assertions are articulate --of all things-- for racist. In fact one cannot make such an assertion in America. And so this is a demonstration on its own that the charge of racism has frozen speech at the point of discrimination as discrimination as speech. It was exactly the Free Speech Movement civil rights generated. It is now our PC. It is what has brought CAIR into our politics to expose the meaning of this word racism. Was this a side effect of the Civil Rights Movement, or was this symptomatic contradiction in terms –making the freezing up of Speech the standard for freedom of Speech, indeed for Freedom -- the true aim of the civil rights movement? Is indiscriminacy, the raising up of Unreason, literally "Zero Tolerance for Racism" as the new Ideal of America according to the Civil Rights Movement intended? The answer to this –and it is given to us by CAIR-- must certainly be a profound and revolutionary hour for this country, if true.
The answer is easily given. Everyone knows in the vague way such things are known, that the people who participated in the Civil Rights Movement understood its purpose was to right a wrong by completing the Civil War: destroy the states and “states’ rights” and replace these things with a unitary central government in Washington, D. C. We have these things now. The passions of love of Mankind on one side, and hatred of Blacks on the other side were obviously motives in the action of this movement at the time. But it was not the passionate who achieved this movement’s success, the charge of racism, for these motives are puerile. More to the point, the foundations had been laid, and amply watered. What the results reflect in America, especially in so consuming and nationalized an event over years, is two seasons, one before and one after, of democratic leadership in public life. I will take note here largely of the “after” season of democratic leadership, saving the before season for another occasion but for a concluding remark tying both seasons of democrat leadership together.
The after season of the Civil Rights Movement is more important to us at the moment, and it is what is exposed by CAIR’s charge of racism against David Yerushalmi of SANE with respect to the Mapping Shari’a program. This is a program actually to map the teaching of Shari’a in America. Shari’a is the law of Islam, defining it and Muslims. In a nutshell Shari’a obligates Muslims to effect a world-wide Caliphate (the world state), and to do this by several means including, and in the end mainly by murder understood as holy killing; and by the threat of murder. Terrorism is not more than a tactic. Shari’a defining what Islam is does not amount to anything new. Islam is not a “hijacked” religion of peace. It is the teaching which is Islam. You can be a Muslim (carefully) without practicing Islam, but Islam is what being a Muslim is. Of course this teaching is controversial in America and in Western societies, and yet the fact is it is not controversial among Muslims, nor has it been in the course of Islam now 1000 years in existence.
The charge of racism made by CAIR of the Mapping Shari’a program just begun by SANE must be seen as a progress of the charge of racism that was given American national birth and life by the Civil Rights Movement. The ultimate intention of the Civil Rights Movement was plainly multiculturalism. This is not in dispute. For example, read the New York Times editors responding to the Census (11.28.1994). Multiculturalism is the principle of human, certainly American existence. The Times measures things according to the diminution, the elimination of white people. And neither is it in dispute that most Americans think this must be good: tolerance, diversity.
But multiculturalism is intended to serve the aim of a world state. It does so, again plainly. As such it is at least a reasonable first suggestion that the reason Western Elites have injected a large measure of freedom of Speech, of PC and tolerance for Islam into American life is because there is a large measure of commitment or impulse on the part of our Elites and our politics toward a world state; certainly there is not much basis for doubt that a unitary, centralized political order is the preferred one in America. Certainly it is the one we have. Our rhetoric and agenda focus only on this direction. Perhaps “most people” don’t know any of this or care. But it is what American life is. But see how this formula is the Muslim one. For example, would you dare say you would consider the proposition that America would be better off without Blacks? Liberals, conservatives, libertarians, radicals, all of us are in on this program. The charge of racism is easily made, but it is not easily taken or taken at all. The price is at least obloquy and ostracism. The circumstance is exactly this where Islam and Muslims are concerned. The charge of infidel is the same in Islam, but on a level different in kind. The difference is death and the threat of death. These two formulae are convergent now.
The point of difference in kind now exposed by CAIR’s charge of racism is now the point of progress in convergence of Islam and our Elites. The charge of racism by Americans of other Americans, has the effect of diminishing, limiting or “marginalizing” the object of it so that its use is feared, a substantial weapon in the hands of men and women, those who now seek and control public discourse, public policy and life in America. It has a quite different effect (and is meant to have) when used by CAIR.
A charge of racism by a Muslim is an accusation tantamount to “infidel” such that marginalization or diminution has now the meaning of a solicitation of murder. CAIR is charging racism with respect to the teaching of Islam in this country. If these people are devout Muslims –they are-- this Mapping Shari’s program will be as great a cause for murder as rejection of Islam. It is the rejection of Islam. But the question SANE asks, "why here?" is lethal. I have just given the reasons for this. The "rejection of Islam" is what CAIR exists to exterminate. CAIR is “in favor of change.” This being so, the first persons to take note of CAIR’s charge of racism against the Mapping Shari’a project have been the much sought Moderate Muslims. These haunted people are here because they wish to escape Islam. But included with them is their American promoters. Those who distinguish Islam, its Law (Shari’a) from what it “really is:” Islamo/fascists/phobia, terrorists, not all Muslims and so forth –but mainly they distinguish themselves from racists.
CAIR's application of the charge of racism resonates with all such people. They know CAIR means "murder" when it charges racism. These small segments of the American political community, Muslim escapees and their American promoters are showing us they see what the charge of racism means. They are not worried Yerushalmi is being threatened. Quite the reverse. Moderate Muslims want their moderating American friends to call SANE racist as fast as they can! And cut away immediately from Yerushalmi and SANE. Just this was CAIR’s published release issued against Mapping Shari'a only hours after SANE's first press conference. Can anyone doubt the message? "Drop your contact with this racist Yerushalmi or CAIR will call you racist, too."
The Muslims of CAIR are a group. It is a 501c3 promoting civil rights for Muslims. It makes this claim and identification at every turn and opportunity. CAIR is a civil rights watchdog. It's like the ACLU and the New York Times, promoters of CAIR. The charge of racism is for opponents of Shari’a in America.

Jessie Jackson is not a decent man. He charges people with racism for a living. But I don’t know any hint or progress of murder. Other Blacks, some whites too, have broached this meaning. You know their names. In truth President Bush having embraced leaders of the Muslim purpose here in America, gives the impression of a leader confusedly and fecklessly among them. And there have been murders. But CAIR is the progress of racism and of civil rights. Racism has no other meaning for CAIR than murder. If you don't know their origins, the convictions of their people and the rest, you haven't read this commentary with much to go on. If you don't know how Shari'a plainly breaks existing law against overthrow of peoples and governments, conspiracy and murder in doing so, SANE's Mapping Shari'a will in fact strike you as "racism." Too bad for you and for us all. Of course CAIR knows all of these things. Most of all it knows what Shari’a is; and it knows why they and CAIR are here.
SANE, for its part has already made public its first two studies of mosques on the east coast of the U. S. These show Islam is here, herding in disaffected Black and illegal Mexicans, teaching Shari’a. They have videos to give away. This is only to say they are teaching what is against the law, conspiring, learning about holy murder, hating America.
But teaching Shari’a in a Western state, a radically non-Western doctrine (except for our Elites) that conceives worship borne in sanctified obligation to kill infidels, i.e., opponents, is now to become a civil right.
The present season of after Civil Rights where U. S. democrat leadership is concerned is like the older before season. The difference is earlier leaders knew they “had a wolf by the ears” and something would have to be done. Only they failed to do much. Our leaders, the political class, the elites here taking note of their primary site in the university, in all education where the Civil Rights purpose is an irresistible seduction, cannot say the words. And the truth is they cannot say the words because Speech itself is indiscriminate. Our speech is incoherent by design. This is how it comes about your children hear the same hatred of America, bills of particulars of racism from any classroom podium in any American public school or private university daily and hourly, only the murder-message, and the license for its sanctifications are lacking. But now, thanks to CAIR’s effectively calling for murder of a racist, these American sites --where murder has already been grasped as the true assignment-- is on the table.
These are the strains of local provenance explaining our convergence with Islam. But then, terrible as the threat of murderous Islam is in a Western nation, the threat of democrat leadership, guided by nothing better than Civil Rights in earlier times but now hopelessly exposed by CAIR, is the more to fear.
