This quotation is from Jacob Klein, the great scholar of mathematical physics. His understanding is symbolic science is the highest achievement of reason. However, he maintains that this achievement, mainly the mathematical physics of Descartes or what constitutes our science to this hour, is the source of the destruction of reason, "irrationalism" as he calls it. Now read this quotation.
“Modern history is…the discovery and the description of man as a specifically historic being, subject to a ‘development’ which transcends any individual life or even the life of peoples or nations. Modern history is not only –as ancient history is – an interpretation and dramatic exposition of ‘facts,’ but also an interpretation of the historic ‘movement’ as such. It is, in this respect, the twin brother of mathematical physics. They are both the dominant power governing our actual life, setting out the horizon of our thinking and determining the scope of our practice.”
This quotation answers or resolves the contradiction, or "paradox" as he calls it, of science and reason. In particular he says “Modern history is…the discovery and the description of man as a specifically historic being, subject to a ‘development’ which transcends any individual life or even the life of peoples or nations....[T]he historic ‘movement’ as such." This is the understanding of men in our days. Especially it is the teaching of the Elites of Western societies or what effectively sustains and nourishes Western societies today. In fact we are, so far as we know, historic beings.
But if this "discovery" is the actual "being" that man is than what transcends us and constitutes our historic being is incoherence. You can see this clearly in the fact he propounds as “reason.” History is the incoherence transcending each of us and our nations constituting our specifically historic being. But then the movement as such is incoherence as such. Readers my not know incoherence, literally, is the Law of Nature starting with the great bodies. That it is the Natural Law in Rights is apparent to anyone who lives in a Western society.
It is because of reasoning like Klein's (who was an exceptionally intelligent man whose reasoning is nevertheless indistinguishable from Ted Kennedy’s) that we are now on course to converge with Islam, the World State movement which already actualizes the movement of historic being, its concretization. The importance of this, for the Klein notion, although manifold, is specific in this way. Islam is not Western. It rejects democracy and perhaps also science. It comes upon the World State by way of suicide-murder as killing on its own.
Supposing there existed no way to prove or demonstrate the fallacy in Klein's notion of historic being, i.e., that what he calls historic being or contradiction as itself Time is not historic being, but is instead given being at a point (itself not even an historical one for history is a human thought only) of a Fall from it, from Being, the convergence of the two orders would prove it to us. These two orders, Islam and America, otherwise distinct and alien, are now united in the Fall from Being. Its aim, again this same demonstration shows us, is not an historical thing in any respect for it has been the aim of Islam since the 9th century AD, and is only something that has come to Western societies in the last 2 centuries, is concretization in the World State.
