Ben-Ami's Latest Twist

Professor Shlomo Ben Ami, the Israeli university professor who has been an unprecedented leader of a "soft hand" approach to the peace process from his position as foreign minister made the following proposal to Arab MK Dahamshe just prior to the vote for prime minister in the February elections just past. In a phone call to Dahamsha, Ben Ami swore to having ordered the firing of Israel police officer Arik Ron, obnoxious to Arabs for his protecting Jewish citizens. Although Professor Ben Ami did not have authority to do this, the Chief of Police Aharonishki would not do Ben Ami's will in any case. And, in a final gesture of defiance to Ben Ami's interference with the police in the interest of Arab rioters, Chief Aharonishki suggested the now former foreign minister's purpose was to buy a few Arab votes.
